Over 50 years ago, 200 exhibitors gathered in New York City for what would become the first annual gathering of the Consumer Technology Association. They showed off the latest pocket radios and integrated-circuit TVs to just over 17,000 attendees.
Today, that same association, now known as CES, is the biggest consumer electronics show on the planet. In 2019, more than four thousand exhibitors thrilled an audience size of over 180,000 people with advancements in virtual reality, electric cars, and artificial intelligence.
CES 2020 promises to be the biggest event of its kind yet, and it's coming sooner than you think, hitting Las Vegas on January 7–10. For a little inspiration to help you get started, we're showcasing our work with Cleer that drove them to success at CES 2019.
New Products Demand a New Design
Cleer Audio is a pioneer in intelligent audio designs, and they had big plans for CES 2019. They needed to show off their latest Bluetooth headphones and smart home speaker, and they wanted a booth that would match the modern, sleek, and premium qualities of their products.
An old exhibit would have cast those products in an equally outdated light, so they came to us ready for a design as up to date as their innovative line of audio.
Creating a Smart and Cohesive Exhibit
With a 20' x 20' exhibit size, Cleer didn't have a ton of space to work with, but they needed a lot of functionality. Their requirements included:
- Reception counter
- Meeting space
- Storage room
- Multiple product demo stations
Clear Sightlines Attract Attention
The first order of business was making it easy for attendees to find the booth. Because Cleer's exhibit was surrounded by other vendors and off the main walkways on the show floor, we needed to create a way that visitors could see their branding from across the room.
We added height and clear sightlines to Cleer's exhibit with a 16' overhanging sign that wrapped around the entire exhibit.
Branding Walls Add Structure and Functionality
We worked our way down from their lofty sign, building graphic branding walls that featured Cleer's logo, and provided the perfect structure for a semi-private meeting space and a storage room. Walls also provided the ideal backdrop for an 80" monitor that featured product information.
Strategic Placement of Demo Stations and Reception Counter
To take advantage of the main flow of traffic, which came from the south end of the building, we added a reception counter to the southwest corner of Cleer's booth. Immediately adjacent, a headphone demo station allowed booth staff to transition from greeting attendees to showing off their products seamlessly.
Beyond the headphone demo station, more interactive product displays led attendees through Cleer's smart home speaker technology and to their VR headset display.
With easy-to-see visuals, big overhanging signs, and a functional space that offered plenty of interactive opportunities for attendees, Cleer got exactly what they needed to make a big impact at CES 2019.
