“We believe in good karma. What goes around comes around. We also think that as a collective, we have the power to make a pretty significant difference.” — Rhiannon Andersen, Co-Founder of Steelhead Productions
We believe in giving back to our community, to make a positive difference in the lives of others. It’s a commitment built into our organization’s DNA. That’s why every year we set aside funds specifically for giving back and look for ways our other resources can be of service to others. Here’s how it works.
Built Into Our DNA
Employee participation is key to our philanthropic work. That’s why our employees are responsible for nominating the organizations we support. But their contributions don’t stop there.
Employees actively participate by donating their energy to a cause. And we're always there to support them, whether it’s offering paid time off for volunteer opportunities, or allocating extra funds to give even more back to the community.
A Special Project
The Make-a-Wish Foundation is a great example. We saw an opportunity to use our extensive building knowledge and construction resources to make a contribution that wasn’t just financial.
“This little girl suffers from a myriad of threatening diseases. She can’t speak or walk, and she’s sun-sensitive, which makes it difficult for her to be outside, especially in Las Vegas,” says Rhiannon. So, we got to work.
We remade her backyard, with a ramp so her mom could take her out in a wheelchair. One of our graphics vendors built a canopy over the yard, and our engineers installed play equipment that she and her siblings could use. “We also added grass so she could have that sensory experience while being in a backyard that was protective for her,” says Rhiannon.
In the future, we hope to continue finding creative ways to utilize our resources for a greater good, whether it’s hosting a charity event or a fundraising auction.
“At Steelhead, I feel blessed to be a part of this great organization. To be able to use our momentum for the greater good is really fulfilling. It’s also awesome to see employees and families get the opportunity to participate.” — Rhiannon Andersen
