Trade shows produce a staggering amount of waste. Every year, 60 million people turn out for shows around the globe and help create 600,000 tons of trash. As global warming reports continue to pile up, it’s clear to us that employing sustainability practices into everything we do is critical for the well-being of our planet and future generations.

The current state of trade show waste is why we’re so proud of the work we’ve done with Beyond Meat, a company whose sustainability practices inspired our designers and engineers to go above and beyond. Let’s take a look at their work.

Beyond Meat: Stars Of Sustainability

Beyond Meat was founded on the belief that our impact as carnivores is causing far too much damage on our planet and ourselves. Here’s how:

  • Meat-rich diets increase cancer risk by 16% and heart disease risk by 21%
  • 51% of all greenhouse gases come from livestock
  • 29% of all water use is dedicated to animal production
  • 66 billion animals are slaughtered every year for food

To combat the negative consequences of a global preference for animal-based meats, Beyond Meat creates plant-based meats that are as delicious as they are sustainable. By doing so, they’re helping to improve human health, positively impact climate change, address global resource concerns, and improve animal welfare.

Beyond Meat’s commitment to sustainability as a brand led them to want something more out of their trade show booth, and Steelhead was happy to accept the challenge.

Beyond Booths: Designing For Sustainability

Right out of the gate, Beyond Meat’s decision to work with Steelhead demonstrated a positive impact on trade show waste. By renting a custom-designed booth, they participated in a sharing economy, where booth elements are reused across multiple brands and multiple booths.

Working with Steelhead designers, Beyond Meat was able to reuse graphics, display counters, 3D signage, and structural elements between trade shows, significantly cutting down on the waste they would generate if they had to purchase new booth materials every year.

Sustainability that doesn’t sacrifice design is just one of the perks when you rent a custom-designed booth from Steelhead. Learn more about renting and sustainability by downloading our eBook: The Perfect Booth For The Perfect Price.
